Hi there, I’m Josh.
I make photographs. sometimes people give me money afterwards. It’s a complicated relationship.
Photographer; Teacher; Biscuit Eater; Professional Foreigner. I hate the idea that there are no new stories to tell. Everyone has something fantastic to share, just waiting to be told in a portrait. My work betrays that beautiful, tangled mess inside of us that we all pretend was put away long ago. I make pictures reminiscent of those who never got around to growing up.
Above all else, I value creativity and story-telling in my art; So last year we launched The Strange Tiny People Project, which uses conditioning exercises and games to promote creative thinking in underprivileged schools. I truly believe that if there is one thing that can bring understanding and growth to the world, it is through creative expression, and we owe our children the chance to make that world. Also, they sometimes let me win at Mario-Kart, so that’s cool.
